What arrives
One natural slate placemat, engraved with the full Wainwrights map shown and finished by hand. Four soft feet are already fitted to the underside so it sits flat and protects your table.
Size and material
Approximately 30 x 20 cm. Natural slate, so thickness and size vary slightly from piece to piece. The map is drawn from real height mapping data, adjusted to the British Ordnance Survey projection, with every one of the 214 Wainwright summits marked, numbered and listed in the key, then laser engraved in our Lake District workshop.
Natural slate variation
Every placemat is cut from real slate, so no two are identical. Some pieces carry a small shard of naturally occurring pyrite, sometimes called fool's gold. It is usually on the underside. Each placemat is checked by hand so any mark on the face has as little effect on the design as possible. A faint shine is a genuine feature of authentic slate, not a fault.
Care
Wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry it afterwards. Do not put slate in a dishwasher, and avoid abrasive cleaners.
