Fairfield Horseshoe topographic slate coaster

£5.95

The classic horseshoe walked from Ambleside, the whole high ridge over Fairfield in one square of slate.

Every design is drawn by us from real terrain height data, adjusted to the British OS map projection, so the contour lines follow the real shape of the ground.

Engraved here in the Lake District on natural slate, then hand brushed with an eco-friendly protective sealant to help resist marks. Approximately 10 x 10 cm, supplied with four small foam feet.

We also make custom designs for other mountains and places on request.

Please note: natural slate has its own texture and character, so each coaster can vary in size by around 3 mm, and thickness ranges from roughly 3 to 6 mm.

Some pieces carry a tiny shard or two of naturally forming pyrite, also known as fool's gold. It is usually on the underside, but occasionally on the face. Every coaster is checked by hand so any effect on the design is kept to an absolute minimum, and a small glint is simply part of authentic slate.

Normally dispatched in 1–2 working days.

What arrives

One natural slate coaster, engraved with the design shown and finished by hand. Four small foam feet are already fitted to the underside so it sits flat and protects your table.

Size and material

Approximately 10 x 10 cm. Natural slate, so thickness ranges from roughly 3 mm to 6 mm and size can vary by about 3 mm. Each design is drawn from real height mapping data, adjusted to the British Ordnance Survey projection, then laser engraved in our Lake District workshop.

Natural slate variation

Every coaster is cut from real slate, so no two are identical. Some pieces carry a small shard of naturally occurring pyrite, sometimes called fool's gold. It is usually on the underside. Each coaster is checked by hand so any mark on the face has as little effect on the design as possible. A faint shine is a genuine feature of authentic slate, not a fault.

Care

Each coaster is hand brushed with an eco-friendly protective sealant to help resist marking. Wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry it afterwards. Do not put slate in a dishwasher, and avoid abrasive cleaners.
